How often do I need a check-up?

For most adults, every six months works well. If your teeth and gums are very healthy we may extend that, and if you are higher risk we may see you more often. We will recommend what is right for you after your examination.

A check-up itself is painless. It is an examination, not a treatment, so there is no drilling and nothing invasive. If we find something that needs fixing, that is a separate appointment and we will always talk you through it first.

It has been years since I saw a dentist. Will I be told off?

Never. We genuinely do not judge, and you would be amazed how common this is. We are far more interested in helping you move forward than in what happened before.

Do I need x-rays every time?

No. We only take x-rays when they will tell us something we cannot see by eye, typically every one to two years depending on your risk. We will always explain why before taking any.

What if you find something?

We explain what we found, show you if we can, and set out your options with the costs up front. Nothing gets done without your agreement, and there is never pressure to go ahead.

Yes, and we would encourage it. Bringing children early, even just to sit in the chair and have a look, builds confidence and prevents the anxiety many adults carry.
